Create and Design Your Own Cereal
Feb

2012

This fun-filled assignment requires kids to design and create their own cereal! This would be a great activity for a nutrition unit, as a group or partner project or just for fun!

Here is a brief description of what the students will need to do:

The kids will have to draw a picture of the cereal pieces and describe on how it tastes.

They have to design the front of the box.
On the side of the box they will have to describe the nutrition and ingredient facts.

The back of the box will have something fun for cereal eaters to read! Students will have to make a game like a maze, tic-tac-toe or a game.

Enjoy!!!

Winter Ways to Make 10 Game
Feb
11
2012

As always, this brand new game is now 50% off for the next 3 days (until Sunday, December 11th). Mark my store as a favorite and watch for new items so you can get them at their lowest price ever!

This winter-themed game provides students with extra practice finding the number that makes 10 when added to the given number. It comes with directions, cards to play the game, a 10 frame and manipulatives for extra help (if necessary), 2 cut-and-glue worksheets and 2 versions of recording sheets to use with dry erase markers. Your students won't mind the math practice because they will love this game!

This game addresses the following Common Core Math Standards for Kindergarten and first grade:

K.CC.4. Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.

When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.

K.CC.5. Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1–20, count out that many objects.

K.OA.1. Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings1, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal explanations, expressions, or equations.

K.OA.2. Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to represent the problem.

K.OA.4. For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record the answer with a drawing or equation.

1.OA.4.Understand subtraction as an unknown-addend problem. For example, subtract 10 – 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8. Add and subtract within 20.

If you like this game, be sure to add it to your favorites!  :)

What is a 2D shape? A polygon? Is a square also a rhombus? To answer these questions and more, this colourfully illustrated booklet has graphic organisers, charts, a sorting game and other activities to both reinforce and introduce the higher learning concepts about 2D shapes.

Topics covered are the properties of each shape, the different families the shapes belong to, the prefixes for the different polygons and the different names they are known by (American and British English).

This 14 pg booklet was inspired by my ALL ABOUT 3D SHAPES ebook.
