Alphabet Hide and Seek A-Z

The purpose of this set is for letter recognition A-Z.

This alphabet set includes a page for each letter of the alphabet A-Z. Students are given directions to color the picture shown beginning with the letter sound specified for each page and the matching letters in the rectangle at the bottom of the page a particular color. Students are to make it a game of “hide and seek” as they look to find (tag) each letter of the alphabet on each page. Students are then directed to color the remaining letters a different color. The letters on each page are randomly place for finding and coloring.

Note: For the letter Xx, a picture for the ending sound is shown (box).

To add more skills and to include different levels of activities, students can flip to the back side of their paper and write a row of each letter learned. Higher level students could write words beginning with each letter of the alphabet on the back of their paper or even write a sentence for words beginning with each letter.
I hope your students enjoy this game of hide and seek as they learn to recognize each letter of the alphabet.

Jan

2018

This emergent reader, “Hearts” is connected to several CCGPS listed below. This 12 page book is designed so that you can copy the book, cut it in half, staple, and then it is ready for use. The 12 pages consist of a title page “Hearts” then each of the remaining 11 pages contains black and white pictures of hearts at the top of each page and sentences under the picture.

This emergent reader focuses on the following sight words: I, see, (color words) red, pink, yellow, purple, green, and orange, and (number words) one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten.

Look at the preview to see each page included.

Students can benefit from this reader by tracking print, identifying spaces between words, identifying particular letters of the alphabet, recognizing sounds (beginning, middle, and ending) in each word, and reading sight words and grade level text. For extension activities, students could add another sentence to each page to add details. The black and white pictures allow students the opportunity to color the pictures. This reader is great for guided reading groups, homework, or literacy center activities.
