Integers Foldable
Aug

2015

Here are three integers foldables which can be glued into your interactive journals. Directions with illustrations are provided for each foldable square. They both pertain to adding and subtracting integers regarding money, sea level, distance and temperature. Several examples and problems with models have been provided for each of the two concepts. The second template for each concept requires students to apply critical thinking and creativity as they design their own expressions or problems.

Use these for notes or a quick review. Of course, the square foldable, which pertains to the rules and concepts for subtracting integers, could be a kite; the mini square could be a fortune cookie for collaboration. Please click PREVIEW to see an example of the foldabl

Sight Words Printables FRY 1-200 Bundle
Aug

2015

This is a 200-page bundle to practice reading and writing sight words.

There is one page for each of the 1-200 words from the Fry Sight Words List.

Find the word. How many can you find. Kids look for the sight word in the shape of the very word so they can see it all the time which makes it easier to remember. Kids should also count how many words they found. To make counting easier, you can ask them to circle 2 or 3 words at a time which is also additional skip counting practice. I always try to incorporate as many skills as possible while doing a worksheet. This sometimes helps them concentrate better.
Find the word in a sentence. Kids see the words in context and can also practice reading other words as well. You can ask them to color other words that they know. Maybe different color or if they do more than one worksheet at a time, to look for repeating words.
Complete the missing letters. Kids need to carefully determine which letters are missing from the sight word. This can be a great spelling practice.

Write the words. There are three different ways to practice writing the sight words.
•outline – write inside or color it
•trace it
•write it
As they have two easier way to practice writing, kids feel more confident when they have to wrote the words on their own.

Editable Behavior Chart
Aug
31
2015

This EDITABLE and colorful behavior chart will not only brighten your classroom, it will help improve your students' behavior. The chart comes in three 11" x 8.5" sections that you will print and then tape together. The finished chart is 25 1/2" long and 11" wide. Laminate it for years of use. Laminate the chart pieces (white or colored pieces) for your students. Then cut them apart. I use a ball of blue sticky wall putty on the back of each piece to stick them to the chart.

At the beginning of each day, all students’ pieces start on the rainbow “Ready to Learn” section (or whatever term you choose). When you catch students making good choices (good behavior, helping others, etc.), tell them to move up a section. For behavior issues or children making poor choices, they move down a section at a time. Have predetermined consequences for the bottom 2 sections and discuss how the chart works with your class before you start to use it.

Also included are reward cards to award to students at the end of each day if they are on the top section. They love getting them, and so do their parents!

Directions are included.

Center Daily Sheets - Differentiated
Aug

I'm sharing the Center Daily Sheets - Differentiated that I use with my students who have Autism.  Each section is clearly seen for those students who need it.  It also offers participation despite students having trouble with their motor skills.  I will use a highlighter to print a student's name or the date, so they can trace it until they are able to do it on their own.  I've found using a highlighter can work better for those students with visual sensory or perception issues.
