Back to School: Fix It Up Sentences (capital letters and ending punctuation)

This activity is connected to the CCGPS ELACCKL2a. Capitalize the first word in a sentence and the pronoun I. This packet contains 10 pages. Each page has a simple story on it including five sentences. The ten stories are about backpack, crayons, pencils, books, friends, teacher, playground, bus, lunch, and paint. The sentences are not written correctly. The first letter in each sentence has not been capitalized and the ending punctuation is missing. Have your students rewrite each sentence correctly. Begin each sentence with a capital letter and add the correct ending punctuation. The sentences used contain frequently used sight words, decodable words that students should be able to read, and a few other common nouns that students see often. These activities are great for morning work, literacy centers, homework or for a quick mini lesson on including capital letters and ending punctuation in sentences. Students can read the story to a partner or to the teacher after correcting the sentences. Students could also add other details to the story using the back of their paper.

Welcome Back Pack for Second Grade

This pack is designed to be a completely independent activity for your third graders as they enter the room on the first day. While you’re welcoming kids and parents, your new students will have something they can get started on right away. The activities are purposely simple, fun, and lend themselves to working with new friends while engaging in quiet conversation.

I print the entire pack, staple, and place on each student’s desk with a pack of crayons as a warm welcome. It helps the kids immediately feel at ease because that “what do I do now?” feeling is eliminated.

Reading to a Million with Certificates and Goal pages

Recently updated - Two different chart options.  Editable certificates in black and white and color, name tags, reading log, student reading goal page (plain and editable), and student goal tracking chart (plain and editable).
Students will stay motivated to read by tracking the number of words read with this challenge. Programs like Accelerated Reader or Reading Counts already calculate how many words a student reads. This packet will now get the students going to keep reading books. Each time a student reaches a certain number of words read their name goes by the appropriate chart. These charts can be hung in the hallway or the classroom bulletin board, but make sure it is in a place the students can see.
When students accomplish certain goals there are certificates available in black and white and color for the students. Now editable.
Charts for the Bulletin Board:
8 Certificates:
4 Black and White and 4 Color
Half Way Point (500,000)
Almost There (800,000)
Going for the Gold (900,000)
Reading to a Million (1,000,000)

Daily Sort Bundle

Do you assign morning work to help keep students busy so you can take attendance, check folders, take up money, etc? As teachers, we are required to do so much, we almost have to come up with some “busy work”. But what if you could do the above while students were occupied with purposeful practice? This is your solution!! This bundle is a MUST HAVE!

Thank you,
