With more than 100 different combinations, students can create their own unique mobile. What's more, this project will help students learn and understand the sequence of operations, as it highlights that division/multiplication and addition/subtraction are approached from left to right. Hey, Whats the Big Idea is wonderful word game created by Dr. Erica Warren that improves word recall, language abilities, and categorizational skills.  While playing the game, students learn about and apply the principles of main ideas and details which is a fundamental skill in reading and writing!   To play the game, players select a topic card from one of the skill levels (beginners, intermediate and advanced).  Then, in two minutes, each participant lists as many details as possible under that topic. But, if details are organized under main ideas, players accrue additional points.   Students can compete against their own prior scores or the scores of other players.

Apples- Keyword see

This file contains 3 effective teaching components that align with common core standards to help your students develop confidence and enthusiasm in reading and writing. The sight word focus in this book is the word-see. There is a color teacher big book to be used for whole class modeling. Next there is a student sized book for individual and partner reading. Last there is a coordinated writing paper too. Your students will build their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills simultaneously. Success is ensured by first having students trace the keyword followed by repeated reading opportunities and eventually having them write the keyword independently. Each student book has a parent involvement component to extend reading at home too! Be sure to visit Canyoureadityeswecan.com to see more materials created by Kathy Brown and Sarah Martino.
