Spin A Word!
Mar
31
2012

This game makes word work FUN! Designed for K-1st grade students, it would be a great addition to literacy stations, independent practice, or other small group work. Included in this game are 3 game mats, directions, arrows for spinning and a student recording page. All you need to do is print, laminate, copy the recording form, and have brads on hand to attach the spinners! So simple and fun!

Students will work on word families and build a CVC word by spinning for consonants first, and then the word family. For example, a child spins and lands on the letter R and then spins the second wheel and gets "--ed", they would say /r/ /ed/, "red!", and record it on their sheet. If they happen to find any nonsense words, they circle it!

Word Families: -ig, -un. -at, -an, -it, -et, -op, -ap, -ot

Consonants: t, r, c, m, b, f, s, p

Make multiple copies for whatever your needs!
