Friendship & Kindness Social Skills Lesson - 6 Video links PBIS Character Ed PBIS
Research is showing that the “soft” skills such as self-control, interpersonal skills, manners, conflict resolution, and accepting responsibility for one’s actions are vital to success. If one does not have manners and the skills to navigate the various situations that present themselves in the workforce, one’s chances of success are limited.
This is a lesson that addresses the ever-important concept of friendship skills and kindness. It includes 18 slides and links to 6 videos ranging in length from 2-10 minutes.
Concepts included are:
Definition of friendship
Qualities desired in friends
Qualities that prevent others from being a friend
Kindness and how to show it to others
How kindness changes the world
Ways to show kindness to others
This presentation has 18 slides and includes a links to 6 different videos to support the concepts that are addressed. One of the links is a video of Counselor Bev reading the book, Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed. The book is all about how one ordinary girl does one kind thing and it ends up causing every person in the world to be touched by that kindness.
I would schedule at least 30-45 minutes for this lesson. This lesson is easily customizable for both primary and intermediate levels.
The PowerPoint includes both animations and transitions to hold your students' interest. It also has a soft musical background fill. Make your lesson come alive for your students and help them to connect to the concept in a fun way that will help them to remember the important lessons you need for them to remember.
If you find a link is not working, please let me know so that I can fix it. I don't control all of the links, and sometimes things happen! : )
