The book in this packet is based on a book by
Eric Carle. Through his delightful book Mr. Carle encourages readers & artists
to explore their creative sides... to not be held to conventions. As teachers, we can sometimes give students work that can limit their creativity and imagination.
The book in this packet encourages students to have fun with colors (and color words) as they “paint” their unique versions of the animals.
NOTE: There are 2 versions of the same book. You decide which format is best for your students. The larger book would be ideal for watercolors or crayons. The smaller book may be more suited for crayons. But again, you decide! :-)
Just as the artist in the book,... the children are free to color the animals any color they want. They decide on a color for their animal, write in the color word and let their creativity flow.
(They may need to refer to the Word Bank of Color Words to fill in the blanks as they choose the color words for their animals. )
